Today’s tip is about your bikes quick release springs.
You may think that losing one of these on the garage floor is no big deal, but those little conical coils provide the leverage and tension needed to hold your wheel in place. When installing a quick release, make sure there’s a spring on either side of the wheel and that the narrow ends face in. Then tighten the nut just enough so that the lever closes firmly. If you tighten it too much and have to put a lot of pressure into closing the lever, you’ve tightened it too much. This could damage the hub and cause the wheel to spin too slowly.
